Kasteel van Beersel

Gaasbeek Castle

This impressive castle evolved from a defensive medieval fortress into a romantic residence. Explore the narrow passages and you will encounter thousands of valuable artefacts, such as furniture, tapestries, paintings, lots of gold and silverware, glass windows and sculptures.

Beersel Castle

Cartoon fans may recognise Beersel’s impressive castle from the Suske and Wiske album ‘De schat van Beersel’. The moated castle is one of the country’s few, well-preserved examples of medieval military architecture. The castle was built around 1420.

Kasteel van Horst

Horst Castle

You may recognise the castle as the home of ‘De Rode Ridder’ (The Red Knight), a cartoon character created by Willy Vandersteen. This fabulous moated castle lies in the green valley of the Wingebeek. A visitor's centre, heritage shop and cosy local café can be found in the coach house.

Coloma Castle

The castle is a typical example of the transition from a 15th century fortress to a 17th century country residence. During the 18th century the castle was converted into its present state. Nowadays the castle serves as a community cultural centre.

Arenberg Castle

Arenberg Castle is an example of traditional brick and sandstone architecture. In approximately 1600, Duke Charles II of Croy ordered a moat to be built around the castle. He also added the park and arranged the construction of an avenue towards Leuven. This is now owned by K.U. Leuven.

Diepensteyn Castle

This castle was once the seat of a medieval seigniory. Brewery Palm acquired ownership in 1989 and it has been completely rebuilt. The imposing courtyard contains a coach house and stud farm with Belgian draft horses.

Groenenberg Castle and Domain

A 45 hectare park extends around the beautiful castle. Its twisting paths, curving forest edges, and extensive lawns make this park a lovely example of English garden architecture. It houses beautiful collections of azaleas, hydrangeas, and rhododendrons.
