The place where Eddy Merckx was born

There is a statue of Eddy Merckx at his birthplace in Meensel: it shows Merckx racing and being cheered on by his supporters. Follow him through his native region on Hageland’s Eddy Merckxroute. Choose the sporty, waymarked route (70 km) or the recreational route (30 km) which follows the cycle junctions.

Sven Nys Cycling route

Sven designed his own favourite training route through Hageland. A challenging 93 km circuit across Hageland’s hills, along the river Demer, through orchards and past vineyards. From the Moedermeule in Aarschot to Horst Castle, from the Chartreuzenberg in Linden to Troostemberg woods in Sint-Joris-Winge. All nicely waymarked.
