Hageland wine: a vineyard story...

Join this guided tour and discover a unique vineyard at Haksberg Castle. A vineyard in Flemish Brabant (the province around Brussels)? Absolutely! Flemish Brabant has its very own wine region, the Hageland (to the east of Leuven).

Who better to show you around than our enthusiastic regional guide, Els? Nobody knows the Hageland and its vineyards better than she does – that makes her the best person to field all your viniculture-related questions. What’s more, you get to learn about the ins and outs of the production process in the vinification room. It goes without saying that there will be a little wine tasting once the tour is done. Sounds great, right? Register now on this website.

Accessibility

The vineyard is located in the countryside, which means the bliss of the quiet, rural Hageland landscape. The only downside is that the easiest way to get there is by car. That said, we do still provide a few tips on how to get there by public transport.

  • By car:
The Haksberg Castle Vineyard [Wijnkasteel Haksberg] is close to exit 23, Tielt-Winge, on the E314 Brussels/Leuven - Genk/Aachen motorway. Take the exit and drive towards Scherpenheuvel. At the second intersection turn left and follow the signs.
    GPS address: Oudenbos 161, Rillaar
  • By bike:
Haksberg Castle Vineyard is between nodes 6 and 94 of the Flemish Brabant node-to-node cycling route network: info on Bike route planner.
    From Leuven Station (21 km): 33 - 80 - 81 - 82 - 42 - 43 - 65 - 45 - 75 (to Haldertstraat) - 5 - 6 - 94 (to Oudenbos 161). There is a bicycle pump and a repair kit available, and you can charge your e-bike for free.
  • By public transport:
Take the train to Aarschot to reach Haksberg Castle Vineyard: info on belgiantrain.be.
Take bus 390 to the Rillaar Kabine stop (15 min walk) or the dial-a-ride bus 708 to the Rillaar Vrankenbosstraat stop (10 min walk): info at delijn.be/and. Please note: if you’d like to take the dial-a-ride bus, you'll need to book in advance.
