Mia Michiels was born and raised in Hoeilaart, smack in the middle of its flourishing vineyards.
Mia's rich family history begins with her grandparents, who began cultivating grapes after the Great War and kept the business going until 1963.
When they retired, her parents took up the reins. So, Mia's grape-growing roots run deep; she’s basically been part of that world since time out of mind.
Mia took over the family business in 1983, and her husband Oswald has been gradually renovating and upgrading the glasshouses ever since.
Her son Peter currently runs the business and shows a keen sense of vision. He’s expanded their greenhouse cultivation to include outdoor vineyards and viticulture.
The grapes themselves are grown using traditional, planet-friendly methods in classic glasshouses.
Having been allowed to ripen naturally, the grapes are sold directly to consumers. That limits potential environmental damage and keeps the business’s carbon footprint small.
