Beautiful moated castle

This beautiful moated castle in the green valley of the Wingebeek, stands among the Hageland hills and will have visitors dreaming of days of yore.
The castle, with its white stone keep, dates back to the 15th century. The former living rooms, made of brick and sandstone, are mostly from the 16th and 17th centuries. A couple of the rooms also have stucco ceilings created by J.C. Hansche.
This is also the “home” of the comic book character “The Red Knight”. A special guided tour for children means guaranteed excitement and adventure. A Knights’ Tournament is also held annually.
There are a host of things to discover in and around the castle: culture, nature, cycling, walking or just enjoying delicious food and drink. There’s something to please everyone in Horst and Horst Castle is definitely worth the detour!

Visit the castle with an audio guide. Both young and old will enjoy the exciting and atmospheric tale. Wonder around at your own pace and, while you look around or gaze from the comfort of a bench, the audio guide will plunge you into the rich history of the castle. You will get a real sense of how Sir Pynnock lived in the castle in the 15th century and Lady Maria Anna van den Tympel spent her time there two centuries later.
A written version of the audio guide is available in English, French and German (included in the entrance ticket price).

• 1 April to 31 October: Monday and Wednesday: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  Sunday and public holidays: 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
• Easter and summer holidays: Monday and Wednesday to Friday: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
  Sunday and public holidays: 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. (closed on Tuesday and Saturday)
• 1 November to 31 March: Monday, Wednesday and Sunday: 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
