Hageland, Walking Country
Hageland has dozens of signposted walking trails
It is the perfect region for you if you love walking, being flat in the north and with rolling countryside in the south. From the centre of Leuven to the charming provincial towns of Zoutleeuw, Diest, Tienen, Aarschot, Landen and Scherpenheuvel-Zichem; past traditional farms built around courtyards and mystical chapels; through fields and meadows and along shady roads and woodlands. Move from one discovery to the next on the signposted paths, with a book of walks and map in your hand.
All the routes are signposted with hexagonal boards, each bearing the name of the walk and the direction in which to continue. On the maps in the walking guide (only in Dutch) you will find where the walks start as well as commentary on the main places of interest. You will also find suggestions about where to find good places to eat and drink along the way.
You can buy the walking guides at the local tourist office or order them.
